Tata is preferred bidder, says Ford

Ford Motor Co. has named Tata Motors as the preferred bidders for acquiring Jaguar and Land Rover. Tata's had put in a bid of $2.2 billion. In the coming weeks the two companies will work out the details of the agreement and only then will a final decision be made.

The most important issues to be discussed are concerning the wages and terms and conditions of the pensions of the work force at JLR. Tata are believed to have stated before that there will be no lay-off if they are to secure the two brands.
